Terms of Service
Last Updated: 07/09/2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to MyTrailPals! We are stoked that you have joined us. Now grab a cup of coffee and carefully read the following pages. It will take you approximately 20 minutes.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the MyTrailPals platform, including our web application, mobile application, and any related services, software, or applications operated by MyTrailPals (collectively, the "Service").
MyTrailPals is a platform that enables users to discover, create, and participate in real-world outdoor experiences, including hiking, walking, camping, fitness activities, and community gatherings. These experiences may be organized by individual hosts or other users of the platform.
By accessing or using the Service in any form (web or mobile), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.
These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and registered members of the platform, including both attendees and hosts.
Our Privacy Policy and our Pricing & Refunds page are each incorporated into, and form part of, these Terms. Where the Pricing & Refunds page addresses fees, ticketing, or refunds specifically, it controls this document as to those subjects.
2. Communications
By creating an account on the MyTrailPals platform, you agree that we may send you communications through various channels, including email, in-app notifications, push notifications (on mobile devices), and messages within the web or mobile application.
These communications may include:
- •account-related notifications and security alerts
- •experience confirmations, RSVPs, and updates
- •safety-related alerts and important service announcements
- •messages related to participation in hosted experiences
- •customer support and administrative communications
We may also send you marketing or promotional communications related to new experiences, community updates, features, or platform announcements. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in such communications.
You cannot opt out of essential service communications, including messages related to account security, transactions, safety, or participation in experiences, as these are necessary for the operation and safety of the platform.
3. Payments & Pricing
3.1 Free Access
The Service is currently free to access for participants and hosts. MyTrailPals reserves the right to introduce optional paid features, subscriptions, premium services, or other pricing models in the future. Users will be provided notice of any material pricing changes.
3.2 Paid Experiences
Verified Hosts may offer paid experiences through the Service. Hosts are responsible for setting the price of their experiences, subject to any pricing rules or requirements established by MyTrailPals.
By purchasing a paid experience, attendees authorize payment for the applicable experience price, MyTrailPals' platform fee (which is a single, all-inclusive fee and is not itemized into separate processing charges), and taxes (if applicable), as disclosed at checkout. See our Pricing & Refunds page for how the platform fee is calculated and displayed.
3.3 Payment Processing
MyTrailPals uses third-party payment providers, including Stripe, to facilitate payments, refunds, and host payouts.
By using paid features of the Service, you agree to be bound by Stripe's applicable terms, privacy policies, and payment processing requirements.
MyTrailPals does not store complete payment card information.
3.4 Host Payouts
Hosts may be required to create and maintain a valid Stripe Connect account or other approved payment account in order to receive payouts.
Payout timing, availability, and processing are subject to the policies and requirements of Stripe and applicable laws.
MyTrailPals reserves the right to withhold or delay payouts when necessary to investigate fraud, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, enforce these Terms, or protect the safety and integrity of the platform.
3.5 Platform Fees
MyTrailPals may charge platform fees in connection with paid experiences. Applicable fees will be disclosed before a transaction is completed.
MyTrailPals reserves the right to modify platform fees at any time, with reasonable notice where required.
4. Fee Changes
MyTrailPals may modify platform fees, introduce new paid features, or update pricing structures from time to time.
Any material changes will be communicated through the Service or by other reasonable means. Continued use of the Service after such changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated pricing.
Nothing in this section obligates MyTrailPals to maintain any particular pricing model, fee structure, or free service offering.
5. Verified Host Program
5.1 Host Applications
Individuals may apply to become a Verified Host through the MyTrailPals host application process.
5.2 Review & Approval
MyTrailPals reviews host applications to help maintain a trusted, safe, and welcoming community. Approval is based on factors that may include experience, safety mindset, community alignment, accuracy of information provided, and the nature of the experiences proposed.
Submission of an application does not guarantee approval.
5.3 Host Responsibilities
Verified Hosts remain solely responsible for the experiences they create, organize, promote, and conduct.
Hosts are responsible for complying with applicable laws, regulations, permits, land-use requirements, safety obligations, and any other requirements related to their experiences.
5.4 Trust Indicator
The Verified Host badge is intended solely as a trust indicator within the MyTrailPals community. Verification does not constitute certification, endorsement, licensing, training, insurance coverage, or a guarantee of safety by MyTrailPals.
5.5 Suspension or Revocation
MyTrailPals may suspend, revoke, or deny Verified Host status at its sole discretion for reasons including safety concerns, policy violations, fraud, misrepresentation, misconduct, legal compliance requirements, or behavior inconsistent with community standards.
5.6 Marketplace Role
MyTrailPals provides a platform that enables hosts and participants to discover and connect through outdoor experiences. MyTrailPals is not the organizer, operator, guide, instructor, or provider of experiences listed by independent hosts.
6. Host Standards: Permits, Insurance & Compliance
6.1 Permits, Licenses & Registrations
Each Host is solely responsible for identifying, obtaining, and maintaining any permit, license, registration, or other authorization required by law for the activity and location of their experience. This may include, without limitation, special-use or outfitter/guide permits for activities conducted on public land (such as national forest, BLM, or state park trails), and any local business or instructional permit required by a city, county, or park authority for paid outdoor programming.
6.2 Insurance
Each Host is responsible for carrying general liability insurance appropriate to the nature of their experience. Hosts offering instructional activities (including, without limitation, yoga, fitness, or similar guided instruction) are responsible for carrying professional liability insurance appropriate to that activity. MyTrailPals may, for certain experience categories it designates as higher-risk, require a Host to submit proof of insurance before a listing may be published or remain active.
6.3 Independent Contractor Status
Each Host acknowledges and agrees that they are an independent contractor, and not an employee, agent, joint venturer, or partner of MyTrailPals. Hosts are solely responsible for their own tax obligations, including reporting and remitting any tax owed on income earned through the Service.
6.4 Accuracy of Listings
Each Host represents that all information provided about an experience — including difficulty level, physical requirements, equipment provided, and safety-relevant information — is accurate and not misleading.
6.5 Documentation and Enforcement
MyTrailPals may request documentation supporting a Host's compliance with this Section at any time, and may suspend or remove a listing or account where a Host cannot promptly substantiate their permit, license, or insurance status.
7. Refunds
Refunds, cancellations, credits, and related booking policies for paid experiences are governed by the Pricing & Refunds page, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
By booking, hosting, or participating in an experience through the Service, you agree to the Pricing & Refunds terms in effect at the time of booking.
Refund eligibility, cancellation windows, credits, and other refund-related terms are determined in accordance with the Pricing & Refunds page.
Refund processing times may vary depending on the payment method used, financial institution processing times, and the policies of our third-party payment processor, including Stripe.
MyTrailPals reserves the right to issue refunds, credits, or other remedies at its discretion where necessary to resolve disputes, address safety concerns, comply with legal obligations, prevent fraud, or protect the integrity of the platform.
MyTrailPals may modify the Pricing & Refunds page from time to time. Any changes will be posted on the Service and will apply as described on that page.
8. Content
Our Service allows users to create, submit, upload, post, store, share, and otherwise make available information, text, photographs, videos, graphics, experience listings, event descriptions, reviews, ratings, comments, messages, certifications, application materials, and other content ("Content").
You are solely responsible for any Content you submit, post, transmit, or otherwise make available through the Service, including its accuracy, legality, reliability, and appropriateness.
By submitting Content through the Service, you represent and warrant that:
(i) you own the Content or have all necessary rights, permissions, licenses, and authority to use and share the Content and to grant the rights described in these Terms;
(ii) the Content is accurate and not misleading;
(iii) the Content does not violate any law, regulation, intellectual property right, privacy right, publicity right, contractual obligation, or other right of any person or entity; and
(iv) the Content does not contain false, deceptive, fraudulent, defamatory, unlawful, or harmful material.
You retain ownership of any Content you submit to the Service. However, by submitting Content, you grant MyTrailPals a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, display, distribute, promote, and otherwise make available such Content in connection with operating, improving, marketing, and promoting the Service.
This license includes the right to display experience listings, host profiles, event photos, reviews, ratings, and related Content to other users of the Service.
If you apply to become a Verified Host, you acknowledge that information submitted as part of the host application process, including experience descriptions, certifications, training records, permits, photographs, references, and other supporting materials, may be reviewed by MyTrailPals for trust, safety, compliance, and community quality purposes.
MyTrailPals may, but is not obligated to, review, monitor, edit, reject, suspend, remove, or restrict any Content at its sole discretion, including Content that violates these Terms, applicable laws, community standards, or platform policies.
MyTrailPals does not endorse, guarantee, or assume responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, legality, quality, or reliability of Content submitted by users, hosts, participants, or third parties.
Content owned by MyTrailPals or licensed to MyTrailPals, including platform branding, logos, text, graphics, software, design elements, and other proprietary materials, remains the property of MyTrailPals or its licensors and may not be copied, modified, distributed, reproduced, or used without prior written permission.
9. Reviews & Feedback
Participants and hosts may have the ability to submit reviews, ratings, feedback, comments, or other opinions regarding experiences, hosts, participants, or the Service ("Feedback").
By submitting Feedback, you agree that it:
- •Reflects your genuine experience or opinion;
- •Is accurate and not intentionally misleading;
- •Does not contain false, defamatory, abusive, harassing, discriminatory, unlawful, or fraudulent content;
- •Does not violate the rights of any person or entity.
MyTrailPals does not independently verify the accuracy of reviews, ratings, or feedback and does not guarantee their completeness or reliability.
MyTrailPals reserves the right, but not the obligation, to review, moderate, edit, remove, or restrict Feedback that violates these Terms, Community Guidelines, applicable law, or platform policies.
By submitting Feedback, you grant MyTrailPals the right to display, use, reproduce, publish, and distribute such Feedback in connection with operating, improving, promoting, and marketing the Service.
Feedback submitted through the Service does not constitute an endorsement, certification, guarantee, or representation by MyTrailPals regarding any host, participant, experience, or activity.

You agree not to post, create, or share any Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, defamatory, harassing, vulgar, obscene, or racially, ethnically, or otherwise objectionable.
